Today filmmaker & photographer jiznakefoo takes us to the seaside city of Carlsbad, on the Pacific coastline in northern San Diego County, California.
I have lived in the Carlsbad, California area (northern San Diego) for almost 20 years now. While it is a busy tourist and commercial city, there are still small pockets of natural areas that are great to enjoy (and photograph) like Batiquitos Lagoon and of course the Pacific Ocean. Carlsbad is a great place to live if you like consistently nice weather, lots of sun, and the ocean.
I have worked as a documentary and commercial filmmaker since 2009 and just a couple of years ago I took up photography. It’s so much fun! Not only has it improved my compositions in filmmaking, but it also gives me instant feedback creatively which is in stark contrast to my videography.
To me, the beauty of photography is that anyone can jump in and start taking good pictures almost instantly (even with phones). This makes for an amazingly collaborative environment and allows us all to learn from each other. Although it takes years to master (I’ve not even close), your journey and improvement can be visually traced throughout the years which is extremely rewarding.
What is your favorite place to have a cup of tea? #teawithaview.
Aside from my backyard with the wife, it would have to be the Carlsbad Cliffs at Sunset.
