Tenerife – Spain

Tenerife - Spain

Located just off the coast of West Africa – Tenerife – Spain is the largest Island in Spain and makes up one of the Canary Islands.

Many come for the all year round sunshine and many beaches (with yellow and black sands) but what I really love about Tenerife is that the island has so much variety on offer, from the hustle and bustle of the popular areas – Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas, to the beautiful mountain drives around the volcano – Mount Teide, where you at times will climb level with the clouds at (2.650m) above sea level. Then you have the beautiful capital of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the tranquil town of Los Gigantes. That is not even mentioning the award winning entertainment parks – Loro and Siam Park. It really is difficult to fit everything in a weeks trip and Tenerife – Spain is definitely a place that will bring you back time and time again.

WHERE TO EAT?

AQUA RESTURANT

With just ten tables available each evening, AQUA is a truly intimate and romantic restaurant, it’s beautiful views over the Ocean and La Gomera are truly special. This is a place, for a very special occasion – a date night, a birthday, an anniversary, or simply to celebrate life and the love of good food.

AQUA is the brainchild of Tenerife – Spain most celebrated chef, Lucas Maes who owns and operates three restaurants on the island, each with its own distinctive style, underpinned by Lucas’s unique personality.

AQUA is fine dining at it’s best,  an amazing experience you will never forget. A little tip is to choose the dessert over a starter, if you cannot manage all 3 courses.

Things to do?

Auditorio de Tenerife “Adán Martín”

The Auditorio de Tenerife also commonly referred to as the Auditorio de Tenerife was designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, construction began in 1997 and was not completed until 2003. Located in the capital of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on the Avenue of the Constitution it has beautiful views out over the Atlantic Ocean.

The beautiful architecture of the auditorium means that this is now one of the major tourist attractions in Tenerife – Spain and currently homes the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra.

Acantilados de Los Gigantes

The cliffs at Los Gigantes (Acantilados de Los Gigantes) are one of the island’s major tourist attractions. This picture perfect post card image is a must for all budding photographers and travel enthusiasts and with so many things to do in Los Gigantes, it makes a great day trip out, or the perfect place to stay whilst visiting Tenerife.

El Teide

Mount Teide is an active volcano located in the heart of Tenerife. It’s summit is 3,718-metres (12,198 ft) high and is officially the highest point in Spain. El Teide’s elevation makes Tenerife the tenth highest island in the world and on a clear day it really feels like you are on the top of the world.
